Police tonight announced the largest single seizure of cannabis in the North.

Drugs squad officers seized cannabis with a street value of stg£2 million from a lorry on the Woodburn Road in Carrickfergus in Co Antrim.

The head of the drugs squad, Supt George McAuley, said: "This is a tremendous success for the PSNI in our fight against the illegal drugs trade.

"More drugs off the street means fewer people can be exposed to their dangers.

"This is the single largest seizure of cannabis here and the PSNI can be assured of more success in the future."
