Paul McCartney is to be joined by the other two surviving Beatles in London today for a memorial service for his wife Linda, who died of cancer in April aged 56.

McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr may sing one of their hits, Let It Be, during the service. Except for a photograph published last year when they brought out an anthology album, the three have not appeared together in public since 1969.

Millionaire pop star Sir Elton John thanked fans for their support after singer Billy Joel was forced to pull out of their joint tour.

He performed alone during a three-hour show at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday night after poor health left the 48-year-old American star unable to take part.
