A Paul Henry painting sold for more than £120,000 over its pre-auction estimate yesterday. The Spoil of the Sea, originally expected to fetch between £40,000 and £60,000, sold at James Adams for £178,250. It is the highest price achieved for a Henry painting. Painted on Achill in 1916, the work was bought by a private collector.
