Her partner and lawyer, Howard K Stern; former-boyfriend Larry Birkhead; and Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, all claim they may be the father.

Dannielynn could inherit millions if her mother's long-running court fight over the estate of her late oil tycoon husband J Howard Marshall is continued in her name.

At a hearing in Los Angeles a judge declined Birkhead's lawyer's request to order an immediate DNA sample from Smith's corpse, but ordered that her body be preserved until another hearing in ten days.

Prince Frederick von Anhalt, who has been married to 90-year-old Gabor for more than 20 years, claimed he and Smith had been having an affair since the 1990s and threatened to file a lawsuit if Dannielynn is given to Stern or Birkhead.

"If you go back from September, she wasn't with one of those guys, she was with me," Von Anhalt (59) said. Smith's son Daniel was killed accidentally by a combination of methadone and two antidepressants, according to a private medical examiner she hired.

An inquest into his death, at which she was to have been a key witness, is due to be held in the Bahamas next month. Doctors will have to wait for the results of toxicology tests to determine if tragic former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith died of a drug overdose.

The cause of tragic 39-year-old's sudden death in a Florida hotel remained a mystery after a preliminary autopsy and it could take as long as five weeks to solve the "medical puzzle", the pathologist warned.

Dr Josh Perper said physical injury and asphyxiation were ruled out in the six-hour autopsy into Smith's death, but natural causes and an overdose remained possibilities. No pills were found in her stomach but Dr Perper said toxicology results were not yet available and until then he could not be sure some kind of drug was not responsible.

Investigators found prescription medication in her sixth-floor room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, but no illegal drugs.
