Bogota - The Colombian army was prepared for either war or peace, President Andres Pastrana said yesterday as he awaited a response from leftist rebel leader Manuel Marulanda to his offer of a face-to-face meeting.
Mr Pastrana also extended until midnight on Sunday a 1998 agreement, which had been due to expire on Wednesday, allowing Mr Marulanda's FARC guerrillas to control a demilitarised zone in the south of the country.
