The Co Donegal parish priest accused of sexually abusing two altar boys in Derry more than 20 years ago is expected to begin giving evidence this morning.

The prosecution case in the trial of Father Edward Kilpatrick (53), of Murlough, closed yesterday at Armagh Crown Court.

The cleric faces 19 charges of gross indecency and indecent assault dating back to March 1975 when he was a curate in Steelstown parish. He has pleaded not guilty.

Jurors were sent home at the conclusion of the prosecution evidence, while Judge Tom Burgess heard legal submissions.
