outlawed Sunni militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi as one of the gangs behind the deadly June 14 car bomb attack on the US consulate in Karachi and linked it to an earlier blast that killed 11 French nationals.

"This gang has been identified as being behind major terrorist attacks including the consulate blast," Sindh provincial home secretary Brigadier Mukhtar Sheikh told AFP.

"But we are not ruling out the possibility of other gangs as well."

This is the first time police have publicly identified the suspected attackers and linked the two blasts. Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider said last Sunday the two car bomb attacks could be linked.
