Met Éireann has given a mixed weather forecast around the country over the weekend. Sunny patches and showers are predicted for tomorrow, with overcast and wet conditions developing in the west on Sunday.

Soggy sports fields have already led to the cancellation of a number of events, including racing at Curragh tomorrow, while play at the Irish PGA golf tournament remains doubtful. The Bray Wanderers match against Derry City tonight has been called off.

Football fans will gather on Sunday for the sell-out Leinster final between Dublin and Laois at Croke Park.

Elsewhere, Barbra Streisand fans will be hoping the weather "Don't Rain on My Parade" as the diva performs tomorrow night with a 58-piece orchestra outdoors at Castletown House, Kildare.

A large outdoor music festival in Dublin this weekend is also set for a damp start tonight. The three-day event in Grand Canal Square in Docklands marks the opening of Dublin's newest public space and kicks off with jazz and electric ensemble Cinematic Orchestra. Tickets to the free event have already been allocated.

The wet weather is causing traffic delays throughout the country. Motorists have been warned to slow down and use dipped headlights as minor flooding and poor visibility cause problems, with delays around Navan, Cork and Kilkenny.

In Dublin, the N7 inbound is tailing back to the Kingswood Interchange from the Red Cow Roundabout.
