The army carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious object found under a car in Blanchardstown, Dublin last night.

The army carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious object found under a car in Blanchardstown, Dublin last night.

Gardaí described it as a hoax.

Army bomb experts were called after the object was noticed under the car on Sheepmore Avenue.

Several houses were evacuated for a while, and the explosion was carried out at around 4.30am.
