US president Barack Obama today signed a law that will reform the way the Pentagon buys weapons as part of an effort to end delays and cost overruns.

"Today I am extraordinarily proud to stand here and sign a bill that passed with unanimous support from both parties every step of the way," Mr Obama said in a Rose Garden ceremony at the White House.
