The Minister for Public Enterprise, Ms Mary O'Rourke, was briefed on the allegations of sexual harassment against Aer Lingus's chief executive Michael Foley.

Details of the meeting, which was held this morning at 8am between the airline's chairman Bernie Cahill and the Minister, will not be released, but it was expected the Minister would be informed of the detailed findings of a sub-committee that up-held the allegations last week.

Yesterday, it also emerged that the sub-committee also advised Mr Foley not to attend work during the deliberations.

The sub-committee met last Friday and advised Mr Foley that he was not required to attend work or carry out his duties while its deliberations were pending. It is understood not to have met since.
