A 15 YEAR OLD Co Meath youth will appear in Nassau District Court in New York today charged with murder and first degree robbery involving the shooting dead of a shop cashier.

Robert Bright, who left Co Meath when aged 11, was arrested with four other teenagers in Rockaway, Queens, after the robbery ended in the death of the cashier, Mr Mosood Sadiq (32).

The youth, who was arrested on December 7th, was allegedly caught on video with a handgun as he forced the cashier to empty the cash register.

An alleged accomplice ordered the cashier into a back room where he shot him for no apparent reason. It is alleged Robert Bright and his companion fled in a waiting car.

He was said to have confessed in the presence of his mother, Ms Mary Bright (39).

The youth's lawyer, Mr Anthony Colleluori, who was appointed by the court, said that his confession was unconstitutional. "It seems very clear that Robert did not commit the murder," he said.
