Balloting for industrial action by the State's 27,000 nurses commences today, and could lead to an all-out strike from October 19th.

This follows the nurses' overwhelming rejection of the Labour Court recommendation last week. Nurses are being asked to give their unions a mandate for industrial action up to and including withdrawal of labour. Their votes will be counted on October 11th.
