HUNGARY: A Hungarian nurse dubbed the "Black Angel" was jailed for nine years in Budapest yesterday for killing terminally ill patients by lethal injection.

HA court found Timea Faludi (25), guilty of multiple counts of attempted murder and four counts of professional recklessness. She had previously confessed to giving lethal injections to 40 elderly patients in a Budapest hospital between May 2000 and February 2001. She later withdrew her confession.

During her trial, she admitted killing eight patients, but insisted she only wanted to ease their suffering. Faludi was banned from working as a nurse again.
