A Norwegian pharmaceutical company will create 220 jobs at its engineering service centre in Cork.

A Norwegian pharmaceutical company will create 220 jobs at its engineering service centre in Cork.

AK pharmaceuticals, part of the Aker Kvaerner Group, of Norway will locate a number of key functions in Cork including data storage and processing, software development and training facilities at its new engineering centre of excellence on the Cork Airport Business Park.

The centre will service customers throughout the European pharmaceutical industry and create up to 220 jobs over the next three years.

The new Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, Mr Martin, pointed out that Cork has seen a significant benefit from IDA's success in attracting foreign investment.

In under two years 15 new investments have been announced for Cork city and county by overseas companies involving investments totalling over €210 million and will create over 1,400 jobs.
