A jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has failed to reach a verdict in the case of a courier charged with having £3.4 million worth of cannabis resin in his possession for sale or supply in 1997.

A new date will be set for the trial of Mr Patrick Ralph (36), of Castle Village Court, Celbridge, Co Kildare, on charges relating to the haul.

The jury had already convicted Eugene Kelly (24), of Sheridan Court, Dorset Street, Dublin, on Thursday night on three charges in connection with the drugs.
