No evidence of criminal action has yet been found by gardai investigating death of a woman in a burning car in Dublin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A post mortem found that 35-year-old Sukuval Abiola Williams died from burn injuries and smoke inhalation. Ms Williams was from Nigeria and has an 8-year-old son.

The woman's charred remains were found by firefighters who were called to a car blaze in Hendrick Street, in the Smithfield area of the north inner city, at 4.30am yesterday. Her body was in the front of the vehicle.

Friends at the scene claimed the woman, a mother of one who worked in a nearby shop, was the victim of a racially motivated attack.

However, gardai were refusing to comment or speculate on a motive. Investigating officers appealed for any information in relation to the death and urged anyone passing through the area at the time to come forward.

Anyone with information can call the incident room at Bridewell Garda Station on 01 666 8200.
