Northern Ireland Electricity has put to tender a contract for the construction of an undersea electricity inter connector between Northern Ireland and Scotland.
The contract will be awarded in the summer. The project is expected to take 21/2 years to complete. Mr Alan Rainey, NIE's group project manager, said it already had inquiries from third parties interested in using the inter connector.
