ROME - Italy's highest court of appeal yesterday ordered a new war crimes trial for former SS captain Erich Priebke, Italian news agencies reported.
The agencies reported that the Court of Cassation had voided the verdict delivered by a military court on August 1st. it found Priebke guilty of war crimes, but ordered him freed because the statute of limitations had run out.
