The Garda welcomed a new recruit today with Commissioner Mr Pat Byrne receiving a new horse for the Mounted Unit from the Blanchardstown Centre.

Named ‘Creideamh’ through a children’s competition run by the centre, the four-year-old horse brings to nine the number of horses with the Garda Mounted Unit.

The unit was set up in March 1998 with six horses. All the horses are stabled at Áras an Uachtaráin.
