The Irish Coast Guard’s newest search-and-rescue helicopter has been unveiled at Shannon airport. The custom-fitted state-of-the-art Sikorsky S92 is fitted with enhanced rescue technology including infra-red and low-light cameras, a satellite communications system and high-speed dual hoists.
The replacement of the primary rescue helicopter at Shannon is part of a 10-year, €500 million agreement which will see CHC Helicopter provide search- and-rescue services from Shannon, Dublin, Waterford and Sligo for the next 10 years.
