The US embassy has announced details of a new green card lottery. Irish people with a pass Leaving Certificate, or who have two years' work experience in the last five years in an occupation which the US Labour Department determines requires at least two years' training, can apply.
The DV2000 visas allow successful applicants to live and work in the US.
Those wishing to apply must send their applications to the National Visa Centre in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, between October 1st and October 31st of this year. There is no application fee.
Details of the application procedure can be obtained by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the visa section of the US embassy in Ballsbridge, Dublin.
