The actor Cillian Murphy and the Oscar-nominated director Stephen Frears are among the luminaries in Dingle, Co Kerry, this weekend for the fourth Dingle film festival.
The festival was established to mark the peninsula's history of film-making – most notably the shooting of Ryan's Daughterwhich brought world attention to the area – and to highlight the potential of the remote area in film-making.
This year's festival will include a public discussion on the future of film in Ireland, chaired by Brendan Tuohy, and will close on Sunday with the first screening of Barry Lyndonon a 35mm print in more than 20 years.
Stephen Frears is to receive this year’s Gregory Peck Award for excellence in the art of film.
