Murder inquiry into Cork woman's death

Gardai have launched a murder investigation into the death of a 45-year-old Cork woman at a flat in the city.

The woman's body was found in the Leitrim Street area of the city after a caller alerted gardai after midnight on Monday.

The apartment was sealed off for forensic examination and last night, following the results of a post-mortem examination, a murder investigation was launched.

The woman is understood to be Ms Nora Kiely of Mallow, who lived alone in the apartment.

She was unemployed and had previously been a psychiatric patient.
