Motorcyclist dies in Bandon crash

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to a crash that killed a motorcyclist following a collision outside Bandon, Co Cork.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to a crash that killed a motorcyclist following a collision outside Bandon, Co Cork.

Jamie O’Keeffe (31), Bridevalley, Agheragh, died at the scene after colliding with a car at Gurranes Cross shortly before 9pm on Tuesday.

Mr O’Keeffe was a married father-of-one and is understood to have been a keen motorcycling fan.

The crash took place on the Kilumney to Crossbarry road. Mr O’Keeffe was believed to have been travelling in the direction of Crossbarry.

A postmortem was carried out yesterday at Cork University Hospital. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries.
