The governor of Limerick prison is considering an appeal for the temporary release of a mother of five who was jailed for a month on Thursday.

Ms Olivia Mackey (26) had her appeal against a month's imprisonment for driving without insurance dismissed in Cork Circuit Court. Her youngest child, Danielle (two months), was taken from her before she began the sentence. Her other children are aged between one and seven.

Ms Mackey's solicitor, Ms Sinead Behan, said her client had previous convictions for driving without insurance and there was no further appeal through the courts.
