London - A 24-year-old woman was charged with the murder of her three children yesterday when she appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court, reports Rachel Donnelly.
Ms Susan MacLeod was remanded in custody for a week during a short, private hearing at the court. She was not required to plead guilty or not guilty to the charges and the Sheriff of the court, Ms Pamela Bowman, refused an application for bail. Ms MacLeod was charged with one murder on Thursday following the discovery of skeletal remains at a tenement flat in the Govan area of Glasgow on Wednesday and two further murder charges were added later.
A mother in Hull was last night charged with murdering two of her children, police said. Ms Margaret Smith (36) was charged following an eight-month police investigation. She will appear before magistrates this morning. --(PA)
