London - Coffee is more important to most people than sex and is often their first thought of the day, according to a survey published today.
Customers at 5,250 Costa stores were asked to fill in a survey. It found 62 per cent of men said coffee is their first thought of the day, compared to 21 per cent of men who said sex was their first thought of the day.
This compared to 80 per cent of women who said coffee was their first thought and only 12 per cent who said sex was their first thought of the day.
A Costa spokesman said: "We knew coffee had become an integral part of our working lives but we never thought it would be more important than sex. Frankly, we're appalled, but then we are Italian."
