The operation to transfer inmates of France's Sangatte holding centre to Britain continued today with 80 Iraqi Kurds transported from the facility in two buses.
Like the first group of 40 who left yesterday, the migrants were being registered by British immigration officials before being taken through the Channel tunnel.
Under an agreement reached on Monday between the British and French governments, Britain agreed to take around 1,200 of the estimated 1,600 in the Red Cross centre, with France taking the rest.
The transfers were to continue for more than a week at a rate of 120 people a day, officials said. The centre will close at the end of the month.
