Davenport Milenium proved the surprise package in the Emo Oil Champion Hurdle at Punchestown today when running out a convincing winner of the two-mile contest.

Willie Mullins' novice, fresh from victory in the Menolly Homes Champion Novice Hurdle over half-a-mile further here on Wednesday, proved too strong for his elders as well.

The son of Insan, sent off at 11-2, moved up to lead two from home and soon had 4/7 fav, Ned Kelly, under pressure.

Ruby Walsh kept his mount up to his work from the last and he kept on well to beat outsider Just Our Job (33-1) by four lengths.

Ned Kelly could finish only third, two lengths further back.
