Two men who hid the proceeds of a bank robbery on a Dublin golf course have been jailed for eight years

Two men who hid the proceeds of a bank robbery on a Dublin golf course have been jailed for eight years. The two were arrested after gardai saw them digging up the money late at night.

Thomas Fagen (30) and Anthony Foley (24), both of McCarthy's Terrace, Rialto, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to handling stolen cash worth £1,496 at the Castle Golf Course, Rathfarnham, on July 21st, 1996.

The court was told that gardai discovered the money under a tree following a robbery at the Allied Irish Banks branch in Churchtown, Dublin.
