Medical cards should be issued to all pensioners on reaching 60 years of age, the Retired Members' Section of SIPTU has said.

While welcoming the proposed increase of £6 a week for retired workers dependent on social welfare, it said it was "disappointed" the single weekly pension was not raised to £102 a week, or 34 per cent of the average industrial wage, as recommended by the National Pension Board.
