THE parents of a young Co Meath man critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in Taiwan allowed doctors to turn off his life support machine yesterday.

Mr Derek Brady (22), of Allenstown, Navan, Co Meath, was a graduate of Dublin City University and working with Acer Computers in the Taiwan capital Taipei.

He was struck by a car as he crossed a street in the early hours of Sunday and the driver failed to stop. Gardai from Navan broke the news to his parents who immediately left for Taipei.

Mr Brady had a degree in marketing and languages from DCU and was placed with the computer company on a two-year project.
