A Co Meath man has been acquitted in the Central Court of the murder of his partner's son

A Co Meath man has been acquitted in the Central Court of the murder of his partner's son. Mr Patrick Murray (43), had pleaded not guilty to the murder of his stepson Ian O'Connor (21), otherwise known in Moyrath, Kildalkey, Co Meath, on December 6th, 1999.

Ian Dixon's mother, Maura, said that in an argument on December 5th, Mr Murray pushed her twice, causing her to fall down the stairs. Mr Murray said he then went into his bedroom, took a double-barrelled shotgun from a wardrobe, loaded two cartridges and remained there, expecting his stepson to confront him.
