Britain's Colin McRae secured his third straight victory of the year at the Acropolis Rally in Greece today, the seventh round of the world championship series.

The Ford Focus WRC driver came in ahead of Norwegian Petter Solberg of Subaru Impreza, with Finland's Harri Rovanpera third in a Peugeot 206.

McRae had been assured of victory after his leading challenger and Ford Focus team-mate, Carlos Sainz of Spain, was forced out of the race during the final special stage with engine problems.

The win puts Scotland's McRae in joint leadership of the world championship standings with Finland's Tommi Makinen on 30 points.
