London - The former White House spokesman, Mr Mike McCurry, has waded into the impeachment debate saying he had "enormous doubts" about President Clinton's fitness for office. In an interview with the BBC, he said he was "deeply disappointed and hurt and a bit flabbergasted that he [Mr Clinton] could be so reckless".
Mr McCurry said he originally believed the president's assertion that he did not have sexual relations with Ms Lewinsky but had not realised there was "a tortured definition of sex lurking behind that". He said his old boss had acted "contrary to the way you would expect a rational human being to behave."
