New York - Two of three potential successors to New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani yesterday agreed to postpone their inauguration by up to three months to allow for a smoother transition after this month's attacks on the World Trade Center.

The Republican mayoral candidate, Mr Michael Bloomberg, and Democrat New York City Public Advocate, Mr Mark Green agreed to the delay. Bronx Borough President, Mr Fernando Ferrer, the other Democrat, has yet to respond.
