Man with gun arrested in Dublin pub

A man has been arrested after an attempted armed robbery of a pub in Chapelizod, Dublin, earlier this morning.

A man has been arrested after an attempted armed robbery of a pub in Chapelizod, Dublin, earlier this morning.

At around 12.45am gardaí received a call stating that the Villager pub in Chapelizod was being held up.

The two gardaí entered the pub and saw a man with a shotgun demanding cash from the barman.

As they approached, the man turned and pointed the gun at one of the gardaí, but the officer managed to disarm the man. Both gardaí were unarmed and uniformed.

The man is being questioned at Ballyfermot Garda station .
