Man shot on doorstep in Meath attack

A man was in a stable condition in hospital after being gunned down in front of his wife in Co Meath earlier today.

A man was in a stable condition in hospital after being gunned down in front of his wife in Co Meath earlier today.

The attack took place in the village Ratoath after the couple had returned home from a night out.

Gardaí said they were confronted by two men - and one opened fire.

The victim fled but was then hit a number of times as the gunman continued to fire.

He was taken to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

His wife was not injured in the attack.
