Man shot in NI 'punishment' attack

A man was recovering in Northern Ireland today after being shot in what police described as a punishment-style attack.

A man was recovering in Northern Ireland today after being shot in what police described as a punishment-style attack.

The 22-year-old was wounded in the left ankle in Saunderson Court, north Belfast at around 11pm yesterday.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Meanwhile a 20-year-old man was also shot in the leg in a playing field in Co Tyrone.

The incident happened at 11.15pm when the victim was approached by three men who took him to the field in the Glebe area of Sion Mills and shot him.

His injuries are also not thought to be life-threatening.
