Man's body recovered from River Lee

The body of a man in his 20shas been recovered from the River Lee in Cork city.

The body of a man in his 20shas been recovered from the River Lee in Cork city.

It is believed the young man got into difficulty as he attempted to swim to a dinghy in the middle of the river.

The body was taken from the water at Pope’s Quay shortly before 9am this morning.

A post mortem is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital later this afternoon.
