A father of seven from Clonmel, Co Tipperary, was charged yesterday at a special sitting of Cork District Court with possessing cannabis for sale or supply worth at least £50,000.

Judge Uinsinn MacGruairc remanded Mr Patrick Landy (38) in custody and ordered him to appear at Cork District Court on Monday. Mr Landy, who allegedly was involved in a high-speed chase with several Garda cars last Tuesday, is being held at Cork prison.
