Man remanded in Westlink bomb case

A Dublin man charged in connection with the discovery of a bomb in a car at the Westlink toll bridge last month has been remanded in custody at the Special Criminal Court.

Martin O'Rourke (23), of Sheepmore Grove, Blanchardstown is charged with the unlawful possession of an improvised explosive device at the Westlink Toll Plaza on the M50 motorway on December 8th.

He is also charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Óglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the IRA on the same date.

The court remanded Mr O'Rourke in custody until March 1 stfollowing an application by the prosecution for a seven week adjournment to allow for service of the book of evidence.
