A man arrested in Northern Ireland by police investigating a fatal fire was last night released without charge.

A 28-year-old man died in the blaze at a house in Lisburn, Co Antrim, early yesterday morning.

The man was questioned about the fire in the house on the Stoneyford Road for a number of hours. He was released on police bail pending further inquiries, an RUC spokesman said. The victim of the fire, a labourer, has not been named.

The fire is believed to have started in the living room and was so intense it reduced everything to ash, the fire service said.

The alarm was raised at around 5 a.m.
