Man questioned over fatal Limerick shooting

A man is being questioned in Limerick in connection with a fatal shooting of a man (23) in the city last night.

He is being questioned at Mayorstone Garda Station. Gardaí in the city started a murder investigation after a man with a shotgun fired into group of people in the Moyross part of Limerick.

Stephen Carey, with an address in Ballynanty was critically wounded and was rushed to the Regional Hospital in Limerick - but died soon after arrival.

The dead man's name will not be released until family members are contacted. The state pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, has been called in to examine the body.
