A Dublin man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a young woman and the stabbing of her mother at a house in Rathfarnham two years ago.

In the Central Criminal Court today, Mr Declan Burke (29), with an address on the South Circular Road, Dublin 8, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms Jennifer Wilkinson (24) at her home in the Rise, Boden Park, Rathfarnham, on December 13th 2000.

Mr Burke also denied stabbing Ms Mary Wilkinson, (57) at the Rise, Boden Park, Rathfarnham on the same date. He pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm under Section 4 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

His trial is due to go ahead before a jury and Mr Justice White on Friday.
