A man charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a student nurse has been released on bail.

A man charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a student nurse has been released on bail.

Mr P.J. Ryan (35), of William Street, Clonmel, appeared at Kilkenny District Court yesterday charged with dangerous driving causing death at Ballybeg in Waterford city on Saturday night. Ms Eleanor Cullinane (21), Portlaw, Co Waterford, died in the incident.

Garda Helen McSweeney said the accused made no reply when she charged him at Waterford Garda station at 12.35 a.m. yesterday.

Judge William Harnett remanded Mr Ryan in custody, with consent to bail, on his own bond of £500 and an independent surety of £1,500, on condition that he sign on at Clonmel Garda station twice a week. He is to appear at Waterford District Court on May 31st.
