A man accused of theft put CD packages in tinfoil to thwart security alarms in a Dublin record shop, a court heard yesterday. Adrian Toomey (26) of Sheriff Street, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to stealing two Star Wars CD packages worth £99.98 from Tower Records, Wicklow Street, on November 17th.

The court heard that the defendant was apprehended leaving the shop and was found to have the CDs in a plastic bag lined with tinfoil to stop security tags setting off alarms on the way out. Judge Gerard Haughton imposed a sentence of three months imprisonment to run concurrently with a ninemonth term the defendant is already serving.
