A man was killed last night by a train near Leixlip in Co Kildare.
The incident occurred just west of Louisa Bridge Station in Leixlip at around 8 p.m. It involved the 7.15 p.m. train from Pearse Street to Maynooth. The deceased's name has not yet been released.
Meanwhile, the Iarnrod Eireann worker involved in a fatal accident yesterday while felling trees on the Dublin to Sligo line, has been named as Mr Michael Dardis (48) from the Longford area.
