A security guard caught selling heroin outside a flats complex has been jailed for four years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Noel Quigley threw 20 deals of heroin on the ground after being chased by a garda through St Michael's Estate in Inchicore. Garda Ashley O'Sullivan said Quigley was caught with the drugs three months after he was found with two shotguns in his flat. He told gardai he needed the weapons for his personal protection following a family dispute.

Quigley (32), of Sillogue Road, Ballymun, pleaded guilty to having heroin for supply on July 22nd, 1998. He also pleaded guilty to possession of two shotguns and ammunition on April 8th, 1998.

Judge Elizabeth Dunne said she took his guilty plead into consideration and set a review date of October 2nd, 2001.
